Precision Highlights in McKinney, TX

Highlights That Look Like They Grew There

Expertly placed foil highlights that add brightness, dimension, and depth without looking overdone. Every set is customized to your natural color, face shape, and personal style.

You want your hair to have movement, dimension, and brightness. But you don't want it to look like you just stepped out of the salon with a head full of stripes. You want highlights that blend naturally, catch the light in the right way, and make people say, "Your hair looks amazing," not, "Did you just get your hair done?"

If that's what you've been looking for, you're in the right place.

Why Highlights at Moxi Look Different

Highlights are one of the most requested services in McKinney, but not all highlights are created equal. The difference between highlights that look natural and highlights that look obvious comes down to placement, technique, and the experience of the person holding the foils.

After more than 30 years behind the chair, I know exactly where to place each foil to complement your face shape, work with your natural color, and create the kind of dimension that looks like it belongs there. At Moxi Hair Studio, it's just you and me in a private suite. No distractions, no double-booking, and no one else touching your hair.

Types of Highlights I Offer

Mini Partial Highlights. Up to 8 foils strategically placed around your part and face. This is perfect if you want a subtle, radiant change without a full commitment. It's also a great option between full highlight appointments to keep things looking fresh.

Partial Highlights. Foils covering approximately half of your head, focusing on the top layers and the pieces that frame your face. This is the sweet spot for most women who want noticeable brightness without the time and cost of a full head.

Full Highlights. Foils on the entire head with toner included. This gives you maximum brightness and dimension from every angle. If you want that all-over glow, this is the way to get it.

Lowlights. The opposite of highlights. I weave in a deeper tone to add richness and depth. Lowlights are beautiful on their own or combined with highlights for a multi-dimensional look that has real movement.

How It Works

1. Free Consultation

We look at your hair together and talk about the brightness, placement, and dimension you want. You get a clear price before we start.

2. Precision Foil Placement

I place each foil by hand, customizing the pattern to your hair, your face, and the look you're going for.

3. Gorgeous Dimension

You leave with highlights that look natural, blend beautifully, and make your whole look come alive.

Highlights vs. Balayage

This is one of the most common questions I get. Traditional highlights use foils for precise, consistent placement from root to tip. Balayage is hand-painted for a softer, more graduated look. Both are beautiful, and the right choice depends on your style and how much maintenance you want.

If you want polished, even brightness that's consistent throughout, highlights are the way to go. If you want something more effortless that grows out gracefully, balayage might be a better fit. During your consultation, I'll help you figure out which one is right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do highlights cost in McKinney?

At Moxi Hair Studio, highlights range from $65 for a mini partial (up to 8 face-framing foils) to $195+ for a full head of highlights. The price depends on how many foils you need and the look you're going for. You'll get an exact quote during your free consultation.

What is the difference between partial and full highlights?

Partial highlights cover about half of your head, focusing on the top layers and face-framing areas. Full highlights go all the way around for maximum brightness from every angle. I'll help you decide which one makes sense for your goals.

How often do highlights need to be touched up?

Traditional foil highlights typically need a refresh every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows and how much contrast there is between your highlights and natural color. If you want to stretch longer between visits, balayage may be a better fit.

Can I get highlights and color at the same time?

Yes. Many of my clients combine highlights with a root retouch or all-over color for complete coverage plus dimension. I offer several combination packages, including The Full Cover-Up ($169) and the Fantastic 4 Package ($450+).

Will highlights damage my hair?

Any lightening process involves some chemical processing, but damage comes from improper technique, not from highlighting itself. I use Olaplex during color services to protect your hair's bond structure, and I'll never push your hair past what it can handle in a single session.
